About Northwoods Reading Advantage

Northwoods Reading Advantage is dedicated to assisting individuals experiencing difficulty learning to read, spell and/or write.  We are based in Rhinelander, Wisconsin, and serve clients in and around the towns of Minocqua, Eagle River, Woodruff and Tomahawk.

Our President

Northwoods Reading Advantage is led by our President, Donna S. Hejtmanek. Donna has more than 28 years of teaching experience, in Illinois and Wisconsin, at both the elementary and high school levels. She has also worked as a private reading tutor for 6 years, with clients ranging from kindergarten through high school.

Donna holds two Masters Degrees in Education (Behavior Disorders and Educational Administration) and a Bachelor of Science in Special Education. She is trained in Project Read (Language Circle) and is Level 1 Certified in the Wilson Language System.

Donna is a former Co-President of the Literacy Task Force of Northern Wisconsin, and serves as coordinator and as an instructor in an annual two-week course for tutors on the Orton-Gillingham approach to reading and spelling. This course is accredited by Viterbo University.

When not helping people learn how to read, Donna loves to paddle her kayak around the clear lakes of northern Wisconsin.
